revolutioniseSPORT and ActiveXchange partner on new collaborative intelligence initiative
March 7, 2019

A collaboration between leading sport technology companies revolutioniseSPORT and ActiveXchange is to deliver an integration of systems and predictive models to enable sport organisations to seamlessly use their member data within a single platform – SportsEye.

Capturing and managing member data securely in order to administer sports efficiently and effectively is a vital capability where revolutioniseSPORT has led the way for several years.

In providing a ‘whole-of-sport’ management system to more than 7,000 organisations and over 150 State and National Bodies, revSPORT is uniquely positioned to understand the value of well managed membership, competition, event, facility and engagement data.

However, this data also has significant untapped potential, that requires specialist expertise, infrastructure and networks to realise.

ActiveXchange is a data and business intelligence team, which draws on data to create and manage advanced and unprecedented predictive models, similar to those used by national supermarket chains.

The partnership and integration of systems and predictive models between revSPORT and ActiveXchange means sport organisations can now use their member data to achieve the following, all contained within SportsEye intelligence partnership:

• Investment - know precisely what facility infrastructure is needed and where, in order to fully capture and retain most membership demand, considering access, capacity and quality factors.

With demand modelled down to a resident level this supports the management of infrastructure investment and funding.

• Performance – assess which sites and clubs are relatively over or under performing at any point in time, considering the profile of demand and competition in the area. The State or National Sport Organisation can therefore proactively align their resources to locations that will make the greatest impact. Each site has an up to date ‘priority scorecard’ to guide which interventions are most needed to draw in new members or keep members for longer.

• Acquire members - the ability to deliver target marketing campaigns via email, SMS or social media channels to the specific individuals most likely to become members.

This is about focussing on the next and most relevant 5%, not the other 95%. The economies of scale achieved across multiple partners also reduces the cost of campaigns for each sport by up to 50%.

• Retain members - on average 30% of affiliated sport members cancel each year. The ability to predict who these participants are, which clubs they belong to and deliver targeted mitigating interventions.

• Social Value -the ability to track the monetary community savings being generated in a credible, consistent and accurate way, either of current participation or of the predictive outcomes of the above interventions.

• Integrate and engage - demonstrate the potential to reach wider stakeholders such as local and state government, through ActiveXchange’s wider partnerships and public platforms such as that launched recently by Sport NSW as part of Future Directions 2019-2022 https://www.sportnsw.com.au/resources--reports/sportseye/

ActiveXchange already provides this service for thousands of sites across Australia and New Zealand, influencing how over two million members are active today. All outcomes are constantly tracked so each partner organisation is able to leverage the very best of what works at any point in time.

Both ActiveXchange and revSPORT are also committed to supporting organisations to apply best practice with regard data capture, security and management, knowing the specific value this then opens up along the way.

Commenting on the partnership, ActiveXchange founder Alex Burrows explains “opening up a data science capability coupled with a growing pool of market intelligence for any organisation, no matter their size, experience or capacity, is a game changer for this sector.

“The partnership with revSPORT doesn’t just mean a connection between two databases and systems, it’s about two forward thinking teams sharing a common vision and ambition to help sport in Australia and New Zealand to reach further.”

revolutioniseSPORT Chief Operating Officer, Nic Watkins added “it’s axiomatic in every industry that strategic and operational decisions must be backed by quantitative, accurate data. Strangely, the Australian Sports Industry has been an exception to this rule. It has long been thought that Tier 2 and 3 organisations, with obviously limited resources, cannot implement efficient and effective data collection, management and analysis strategies.

“Our partnership with ActiveXchange will help the industry challenge this dangerous misconception and empower organisations, of all sizes and budgets, to make informed, data-driven decisions which lead to actionable outcomes.”
